170R. C. P.
Scott to Harrod, 5 December 1929
[a]
The Manchester
Guardian asks Harrod to take up Lindsay's work as Oxford
correspondent.
[1]
- 1. The
exchange includes four other letters, one of which no longer
extant. On 9 December, Scott regretted that Harrod could not take
up the correspondence, and ask if he could indicate any one of the
younger dons to whom he might apply (in MGA A/H29/14). Harrod
suggests the names of A. H. Smith of New College, E. Woodward of
All Souls and R. B. McCallum of Pembroke College (12 December
1929, in MGA 2026 A/N3/3a). Finally, Scott thanked Harrod for the
proposal (17 December 1929, in HPBL Add. 71190/98; copy in MGA
A/H29/15).
