Gatliff to Harrod, [October

Gatliff
communicates that he and others are going to revive the Jowett
Society which lapsed during the war, and asks whether Harrod would
join. He gives details regarding the first two meetings, to take
place in November. [1]
- 1. The Jowett
was an undergraduate society, whose aim was to stimulate interest
in philosophy among undergraduates by means of written papers. A
copy of the list of meetings for November 1919 is in HPBL Add.
72768/60. A correction in pen indicates that the second meeting
was to take place in Harrod's rooms. Harrod was secretary of the
Society in Michaelmas term 1921, and was elected president at the
211th meeting held on 30 November 1921 for Hilary term 1922
(Minutes, JS, Ms. Top. Oxon. d. 359/1).
