Schulze-Gävernitz (1864-1943) was professor of economics in Freiburg-im-Breisgau from the 1890s into the era of the Weimar Republic, and held a course in classical philosophy for his students in economics. He retired at the advent of the Nazis to power, and devoted himself to religious writing. He was a Member of Parliament for the Freisinnige Partei, from 1911 to the early 1920s.
