Educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, MacMahon (1909- ) entered the Board of Trade in 1933 and became assistant secretary in 1942. He was senior UK Trade Commissioner in India (1952-1958), under-secretary of the Board of Trade (1958-62 and 1964-70) and was employed at the Admiralty (1962-64).
