53R. G. v.
Schulze-Gävernitz to Harrod, 13
March 1923
[a]
Schulze-Gävernitz sends a list of books in which Harrod was
interested. This includes Hilferding, Das Finanzkapital; N. Lenin,
Der Imperialismus als jüngste Etappe der Kapitalismus; Sven
Helander, Hegel und Marx; Max Weber, Gesammelte Aufsätze zur
Religions-Soziologie. [1]
- 1. According
to H. Phelps Brown, Harrod returned to Germany after his stay in
Berlin and a term in Oxford, and received informal instruction
from von Schulze-Gävernitz in Freiburg in Breisgau ("Sir Roy
Harrod. A Biographical Memoir", 1980, p. 8). Indeed some
correspondence sent from Freiburg during the summer survives, in
particular a letter to Douglas Woodruff of 21 August (in DWP Box 3
Folder 23), explaining that return to England was scheduled for 5
September.
