824R. Harrod to F. A. Lindemann, 1 September 1938 [a]
Harrod forwards to Lindemann a letter he received from Ettig. [1] He continues: "I wish you would get some of your influential business friends, of whom you know so many, to write to the Times in support of me [2] and thus save the nation. I enclose a copy of my article, in case you missed it. Do you know anyone who would like to see it?" "I wrote at length to Simon and got the usual non-committal answer." [3]
2. Harrod, "Meeting a Trade Recession" ( 1938:11 ).
3. Letters 807 and 818 to John Simon (the chancellor of the exchequer), respectively.
