824R. Harrod to F. A. Lindemann, 1 September 1938 [a]

Harrod forwards to Lindemann a letter he received from Ettig. [1] He continues: "I wish you would get some of your influential business friends, of whom you know so many, to write to the Times in support of me [2] and thus save the nation. I enclose a copy of my article, in case you missed it. Do you know anyone who would like to see it?" "I wrote at length to Simon and got the usual non-committal answer." [3]

1. 1. J. L. Ettig was hosting a young Austrian-Jew refugee on his way to the United States, Gustav Kürti, a mathematical physicist. He asked Harrod to put Kürti in touch with Lindemann (17 August 1938, in CHER K142/21).
