Neep to Harrod, 28 October 1922

Neep was fighting
the Woolbridge division for Labour, and asked if Harrod could go and
help. He reminded him of a certain October morning five years before,
when Harrod gave him new courage on a similar occasion.

Parliament was dissolved on 26 October 1922, the general election
was held early in November. Two other letters from Neep to Harrod
are extant concerning this affair. On 2 November Neep thanked
Harrod for accepting to help him and specified that the fight was
straight against a conservative, the liberal candidate having
retired (in HPBL Add 71616/124); on 10 November he reported on the
results of the poll (in HPBL Add. 72730/156-57). A year later,
Paul Bloomfield met Neep, to whom Harrod "secured good votes at
the last election", and asked Harrod to tell him more about him
(Bloomfiled to Harrod, 11 November 1923, in HPBL Add 71609/98).
