Harrod's mother
suggests he resist the offer he was made: if he was good enough to be
offered, he certainly had other possibilities. Frances Harrod
inquires whether accepting the fellowship would prevent him going
into Parliament for seven years, and considers that that would be a
pity. [1]

23 R), Harrod seems to
have been planning a career to the Bar as a stepping-stone for
politics: see letters 18 R
and 25 .
