Harrod asks Woodruff --who works at The Times-- to bear in mind "that Robert Byron wants a job urgently". "He is a man of great literary capacity taste and knowledge. He knows about painting, would do dramatic criticism very well etc. [...] I am convinced that he would do any reasonable job well. [...] A man of twenty times the brains of Eric Siepmann".
