Steel-Maitland, Arthur Herbert Drummond Ramsay

Steel-Maitland (1876-1935, original name A. H. D. Steel, 1st baronet Steel-Maitland, created 1917) was educated at Rugby School and Balliol College, Oxford. He was private secretary to two Chancellors of the Exchequer (1902-05); he obtained a seat in Parliament as a Conservative in 1910, and in 1911 became the chairperson of the Unionist Party. He was parliamentary under-secretary for the Colonies (1915-17), for the Foreign Office, and was parliamentary secretary to the Board of Trade and Minister of Labour (1924-29).
