Scrymgeour-Wedderburn (1902-83; 11th Earl of Dundee from 1953) was educated at Winchester and Balliol College, Oxford, where he was president of the Union Society (1924). He was a Unionist Member of Parliament (1931-45), parliamentary under-secretary of state for Scotland (1936-39), additional parliamentary under-secretary of state, Scottish Office, 1941-42, Minister without Portfolio (1958-61), Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (1961-64), assistant deputy leader (1960-62) and deputy leader (1962-64) of the House of Lords.
