Peacock, Edward Robert

Edward Peacock (1871-1962, knighted 1934) was ducated at Queen University, Kingston, Canada, where he took philosophy and political economy. He was English master and senior house master at Upper Canada College, Toronto (1895-1902), then undertook a financial career beginning with the Dominion Securities Corporation of Canada and London (1902-15); he was concerned with the direction of light, power and traction companies in Spain, Brazil and Mexico (1915-24), and was director of the Bank of England (1921-24 and 1929-46) and of Baring Brothers.
