Loveday, Alexander

Educated at Shewsbury School and Peterhouse College, Cambridge, Loveday (1888-1962) was a lecturer in political philosophy at Leipzig University (1911-12) and lecturer in economics, University of Cambridge (1913-15). He joined the League of Nations secretariat in 1919, and became director of the Financial Section and Economic Intelligence Service (1931-39) and of the Economic Financial and Transit Department (1939-46). He was fellow (1946-49) and warden (1950-54) of Nuffield College.
