Keogh was librarian at Yale for nearly 40 years. He became university librarian (1917), and was made Sterling professor of bibliography (1926-26). He was librarian of the American Oriental Society (from 1925) and of the Elizabethan Club (1912-35), and was president of the American Library Association (1929).
