Christopher Hollis (1902-77) was educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford, where he was a member of the Russell and Palmerston Club, as was Harrod. He was president of the Union Society, and toured the United States, New Zealand and Australia as a member of the Union Team. He taught history at Stonyhurst College (1925-35), was a visiting professor of Notre Dame University, Indiana, where he was engaged on economic research (1935-39). He was a Conservative Member of Parliament (1945-55). He wrote on a wide variety of historical and political subjects; his Oxford in the Twenties (1976) portrays several figures of Harrod's circle of friends.
