Dugdale, John

Dugdale (1905-63) was educated at Wellington College and at Christ Church; Harrod was his tutor, and later defined him as "an old friend of mine" (letter 847 ). Dugdale was attaché to the British Legation in Peking (1926-27), and was Attlee 's private secretary from 1931 to 1939. He contested the Leicester seat in 1931, and asked Harrod if he could speak on his platform (letter 219 R). He was a Labour Member of Parliament from 1941.
