Bourdillon, Francis Bernard

Educated at Charterhouse and Balliol College, Bourdillon (1883-1970) first taught modern languages at University College in Reading and Balliol College in Oxford (1908-14 and 1913-15). After the war he was a member of the Upper Silesian Commission (1920-22) and secretary of the Irish Boundary Commission (1924-25). From 1926 to 1929 he was secretary of the Royal Institute of International Affairs. He joined the Research Department at the Foreign Office (1943-49).
