Born in 1898, Bloomfield was educated at Harrow and Balliol College. Author of Imaginary Worlds (London, 1932), William Morris (1934), The Many and the Few (1942), Journal: 1939-49 (London, 1950) and Disraeli (1961). In his autobiography, Half the Battle (London: Constable 1936) Harrod is not mentioned, although the numerous letters they exchanged (in HPBL 71609 and 71182: see [jump to page] and [jump to page] ) suggest that Bloomfield belonged to the circle of Harrod's friends.
