Follows on from 856 R, continues at 868 . Sinclair congratulates on the success of Harrod's effort to obtain the Labour's and Liberal's support for Lindsay. [1]

A few days later, Sinclair issued a joint statement with Lord Crewe, the leader of the Liberal Peers, in support of the candidature of Lindsay and (implicitly) of the experiment attempted by the Oxford Progressives. The statement is reported in "Liberals' Lead to Electors. Joint Message to Mr. Lindsay from Sir A. Sinclair and Lord Crewe", Manchester Guardian, 21 October 1938, p. 12.
