682R. Lord Ebbisham to Harrod, 26 June 1937 [a]

Ebbisham, the chancellor and treasurer of the Primrose League, thanks Harrod for the absorbing speech on "The Menace of our Declining Population" given at the Primrose League's Political School. [1]

  1. 1. The meeting, held at Caxton Hall on 25 June, was presided by Duncan-Sandys, chairman of the Primrose League Political School (see letter 685 R). In the debate which followed, C. P. Blacker, the honorary secretary of the Population Investigation Committee, "fully endorsed [Harrod's] statistical estimates of the present and future decline in our population" (Harrod's speech and the subsequent debate are summarized in "Our Declining Population", The Primrose League Gazette XLIV:8, August 1937, p. 6).
