681R. Wilhelmine Cresswell [1] to Harrod, 23 June 1937 [a]
Billa wishes that Harrod would write an authoritative letter to The Times about the prevention of slumps, as she is sure he knows far more about it than "all these bogus people who write every day". [2]
2. Harrod soon wrote an article in two parts on this subject for the Manchester Guardian: "The Boom and the Slump" ( 1937:11 , press item 15 ). Billa wrote on 14 July that she hoped Harrod would be inspired to write some terrifically good articles for the Manchester Guardian (in HPBL Add. 72776/69-70); on 2 August Harrod reported that the articles appeared, and commented that "they were brilliant" (letter to Billa, in HPBL Add. 72776/79).
