551R. H. B. W. Joseph to Harrod, 29 April 1936 [a]

Replies to a letter not found, follows on from 550 R. Joseph has escaped reading the paper at the Philosophical, and shall not publish it. He does not think they will get any further by more correspondence, and closes the exchange by remarking that although one might take note of what X has chosen in the past and rank accordingly the possible things one can secure for X in the future, that will never cover the programme of ordering ends in importance according to the strength of the motive, on Harrod's definition of motive.
