549R. H. B. W. Joseph to Harrod, 27 April 1936 [a]

Follows on from 548 R. Joseph explains that a speaker before the "Philosophical" fell ill, and he was asked to read a paper instead; he thus asks if Harrod would think unfriendly if he read his criticism to "Utilitarianism Revised". Joseph comments that in Harrod's statement that ends must be ranked in importance according to the strength of the motive [1] it is not clear what is meant by degrees of strength. Continues at 550 R.
