501. J. M. Keynes to Harrod , 27 November 1935 [a]

46, Gordon Square, Bloomsbury #

27 November 1935

My dear Roy,

So far as I am concerned I shall certainly have finished my book before the end of the calendar year. But it is a little difficult to calculate how long the publishers will take. My present fairly confident expectation is that the book should be published before the end of January or, at any rate, by the first week in February. But I doubt whether it will be available absolutely at the beginning of term. [1]

The title is definitely settled as "The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money."

Yours ever,

J M Keynes

R.F. Harrod Esq., Christ Church Oxford.

  1. 1. Harrod was planning to lecture on Keynes during Hilary term 1936; the lectures, however, were eventually cancelled due to the belated appearance of Keynes's book (Social Studies Reports, 1935-37, in OUA FA4/18/2/2 p. 140).
