My dear Roy,
I am sending you at last galley proofs of almost the whole of my book. From the Table of Contents which I am also enclosing, you will see that you have here the whole thing with the exception of the three concluding chapters.
The copy is a spare one and there is no reason why you should not scribble in the margins any comments which occur to you. I am extremely anxious to know how it strikes you.
The different sections are in different states of revision, and you will find various internal inconsistencies which will have to be put right. Broadly speaking the first six chapters and the last six are in a later stage of revision than the intermediate ones.
J M Keynes
R. F. Harrod Esq., Christ Church [b] , Oxford.
2. The table of content of the General Theory attached to this letter largely corresponds to the one published in Keynes's Collected Writings, vol. XIII, pp. 525-26; however, Keynes had already corrected in his own hand the title of Book IV from "The Propensity to Invest" into "The Inducement to Invest." Later Keynes laid stress on this change: see his letter 465 , [jump to page] .
