360R. W. A. Wallis to Harrod, 18 June 1934 [a]

Wallis, fellow of the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago, requests on behalf of his graduate students some offprints of Harrod's QJE article on imperfect competition, [1] for Knight has declared it to be "essential to preparation for the doctor's examinations". [2]

  1. 1. Harrod, "Doctrines of Imperfect Competition" ( 1934:3 ). Offprints do not seem to have been readily available (Wallis to Harrod, 19 October 1934, in HP IV-1238-1254), and were later reprinted by Knight: see letter 716 , [jump to page] .

    2. Wallis later thanked Harrod for sending him a copy of the article, and agreed with Professor Knight when he referred to it as "much the best thing that has yet appeared on the subject'"(Wallis to Harrod, 19 October 1934).

    1. a. From the Department of Anthropology, University of Minnesota # (the letter, however, indicates that the author was fellow of the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago), one page TLS, in HP IV-1238-1254.
