345. Harrod to William Beveridge , 1 February 1934 [a]

[Replies to 344 ] [1]

Christ Church, Oxford #

1 February 1934

Dear Beveridge

How very kind of you to send me your notes. [2] I read them through with great interest. Some of your difficulties I share; others I think I could (owed to prolonged study!) resolve.

As a matter of fact my effort is now complete and already in print. [3] It will appear, I understand, in March. It is of prodigious length--some 20 pages. Even so I have only touched <on> [b] certain aspects of the book. I felt that if one was to make one's criticism cogent at all one must confine oneself.

P[igou] has had at least 2 careful readers. I wonder how many more he will get! It is a pity, because he can be an extraordinarily good expositor.

With very many thanks.

Yours sincerely

R. F. Harrod
