Taussig invites
Harrod to contribute to the Quarterly Journal of Economics "a review,
or review-article, on the recent literature on the theory of
imperfect competition", with particular reference to Joan Robinson's
and Edward Chamberlin's books and the literature in periodicals.

the result being "Doctrines of
Imperfect Competition" (
1934:3 ). References are to J. V. Robinson, The Economics of
Imperfect Competition (1933) and E. Chamberlin, The Theory of
Monopolistic Competition (1933). Taussig wrote again on 8 and 23
November (both in HP IV-1183-1189), concerning arrangements
regarding the article. He acknowledged receipt of Harrod's piece
on 9 January 1934 (letter
